so Sequin and I, Jersey Knit, had another fabulous evening watching Project Runway in Boystown
This time we managed to finish about 1.5 pitchers of margaritas during the episode so progress was definitely made.

We were so glad that ruffle dress girl Emily got sent home because that dress was pure FUG. The best part was when her dress walked down the runway and they showed her picture and i said “it would be a lot better if she had done flat stripes or something instead of ruffles” and Sequin and I also concluded that the dress itself should have had more movement in it, like a swingy skirt with bright streaks going through it or something… and then when it was Judging Time Nina said the exact same thing!!!
sweet!
in other news and reviews:
Blayne totally surprised us! his picture was such a neon rainbow riot that we gasped in fear of what he would make but this:

was actually kind of fierce!
sweet little Jennifer… we didn’t think this was so bad actually

sure it’s conservative, not too sexy… reminds me of Charlotte from Sex in the City, like going out to dinner or the symphony and not the clubs
and seriously I can’t for the life of me picture Joe in my mind, but i remember loving this dress, except i was concerned about the little train thing in the back…

I had called the Loser’s Edit on Keith early in the episode and I certainly didn’t waver when i saw this piece of “serious ugly” walking down the runway

and also, this model needs to calm down a bit, you can almost see the desperation in that pose sweetie
Kenley, girl, your designs have been pretty darn good but on the real – no way this weirdness would have won if you hadn’t had the FIERCEST model in the history of the show!

Shannone – just keep doing what you do so well!
I don’t know what to say about Leanne – the dress seemed really boring, but Sequin and I figured that it must have looked better on the runway than for the camera… we did agree that the styling of the model was perfect though, and that Karalyn is another model to watch for sure!

after the show we did karaoke, including a couple numbers picked by some of our new friends… yes okay i admit it, we sang for shots! it was a brilliant brainwave on my part, at least it seemed so at the time…
I believe Sequin kept track but from what i can remember we sang: I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys, Hey Mickey, Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden, and to my deep utter delight one of our new friends chose “Picture” by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow
I also did a solo rendition of “Mercedes Benz”
oh AND I got hit on! TWICE! by straight men!! in a gay bar!!!
hahahahahahahahaha
and did you know that i’m an awesome dancer?!!
what a great night…

the green city farmer’s market in lincoln park has some super awesome stuff
not just produce, but the great prepared food stalls too

these are the smoothies available, before they are blended
just apple cider and fruit (strawberry and blueberry on the left, strawberry and rhubarb on the right)
then they blend it up and it’s the best thing ever! beats jamba juice on its ass!
i also had a Heartland Elk burger the other day which was fantastic, nice and lean!

so i have a confession to make – i’m in love with Chad Michael Murray

First he made an appearance on Dawson’s Creek, my favorite high school drama (i identified strongly with Joey Potter back then, not sure why…)

Then I met his doppelganger, my best friend’s friend, and my infatuation grew as i got to actually spend time with an incredibly awesome Chad Michael Murray facsimile

and then One Tree Hill hit the airwaves and hasn’t quit since!

my dreams, my fantasies – from the steamy to the completely mundane (shopping at target, walking to class together) – are all fulfilled by this gorgeous man…

so i spent wednesday night at Roscoe’s drinking fabulous $12 pitchers of margaritas with a delightful school chum of mine.
After re-naming ourselves in honor of Suede, I will be henceforth known as Jersey and my best gay buddy will be called Sequin.
I found the premiere to be a little blah honestly… i hate to say it but DAMN!
(except Korto who i have picked for the final 3)
After the episode, and a couple of pitchers, Sequin and I decided that clearly the people at Bravo need some help, since they decided to recycle a first season challenge for the premiere. (holla at ya girl Miss Scarlett!)
So here are our suggestions, in no particular order:
- Bumpity Bump: Using their favorite outfits from their first trimester, designers will create outfits for ladies in their third trimester.
- You’re Screwed: Send the designers to Lowe’s for outfit materials! We thought swimsuits could be fun for this one…
- Give My Regards: Designers will be given brief character descriptions from a new Broadway show, pitch their ideas for 3 costumes to the show’s head costume designer, the best designs will be picked, they become the team leaders and each team creates the 3 costumes!
- Delightfully Tacky: Well, they’ve done the USPS… and they did flight attendants on Project Catwalk… Time to do HOOTERS! Give those girls a new look!
- Flannel No More: Making over lesbians, ’nuff said
- Junior Miss Pageant: Making formal gowns for pre-teen/teen pageant girls! (audience favorite points to whomever’s model cries the most!)
- Puppy Love: Make an outfit for an intimate date night using materials from FAO Schwartz
- Pretty in Pink: For the men’s wear challenge, we would like to see the designers make going out outfits for super-trendy gay men
- Pop Rocks: Another team challenge, designers will pitch ideas to a young hot pop star for their next music video! The chosen designers become team leaders and create 3 featured looks for the video (they will have of course heard the song and heard about the story/concept for the video).
- Amazing Grace: Create outfits for a church fashion show, let the congregation’s votes affect the outcome!
- Will You Be My Model?: Designers have to hit the streets to find their own model and then create an outfit for that average person to replace the one they were wearing when recruited (so business casual if headed to work, or a cocktail look if headed out for drinks, etc…) This is my FAVORITE one!
So what do you think? Do you have any ideas?

i wish i hadn’t spent so much money on you
i wish i hadn’t bought you all those gifts
i wish i hadn’t taken you to my favorite vacation spot
i wish i hadn’t given you my heart
i wish i had broken up with you the first time i wanted to all those years ago
i wish you were the one so i wouldn’t be sitting here crying
last night i drank a whole bottle of wine by myself and i still fell within my calorie range!
oh yeah and I got to eat a hamburger AND a hot dog at a friend’s cookout/party!
Here’s the daily report from sparkpeople.com

(and yes drinking the entire bottle of wine was ABSOLUTELY necessary!)

i saw these grapes growing all over a fence by the bus stop yesterday and they were gorgeous.
i just love seeing real food growing in the city!

so yesterday i spent the afternoon with Sis-in-law and Twiggy, cleaning and organizing their house, and then my mother (who has chosen “Netty” as her grandmother-name) picked us all up and we went to Costco! yay!
here’s what i got for like $70:

from left to right: thinaddictives pistachio cookie things, 6 heads of romaine, 1 lb tomatoes, pretzels, suzie’s flatbreads (awesome cracker-like things that are lower in fat and whole grain), a pineapple, some whole grain ciabatta rolls, canned chicken, cenned tuna, 3 lbs bananas, 4 lbs strawberries
then we went back to Netty’s house and she made dinner (she’s been embracing a real healthy diet for a couple years now, she started on the Sonoma Diet and is now on sparkpeople)
this is salmon with a fresh pesto-like sauce

super-tasty
and here’s the whole meal

steamed brussels sprouts, cantelope, and cherry tomatoes and goat cheese to mix into brown rice with extra grains, plus the salmon. (that’s my mom’s hand in there btw).
It was wonderful and the whole meal was about 500 calories.

so as i’ve mentioned i went a little crazy last weekend with the smoking and the drinking and obviously the food consumption pairs well with those.
and so I gained weight.
I went to the doctor yesterday and I’m up to 239 lbs!
So I asked my doctor a few questions and we talked for awhile and I came away with 2 nice pieces of info:
1) When you reach your plateau weight, you should just accept it. If you’re eating less than 2,000 calories a day and exercising at least 30 minutes a day for 3-5 days a week and you stop losing weight then THAT is your body’s natural weight and you should just learn to love it.
2) This BMI stuff is bunk. (i knew it!) The more recent research shows that people with a BMI of 30 are actually healthier than those with a BMI of 25, even though 25-30 is considered overweight! Plus BMI doesn’t take into account differences of body type or genetics (my doctor indirectly eluded to the fact that some women just have larger breasts and hips)
So I’m back on track but with new goals!
1. My new goal weight, at least to start, is 185 lbs! This would give me a BMI of 29.9. Throughout college I bounced around between 162 lbs to 188 lbs, so I figure my plateau/maintenance weight is somewhere in that range and i’ll re-evaluate once i get to the initial goal of 185 lbs.
2. With the helpful reminders from some friends of how happy i had been with my all-fruit breakfasts in the past, I re-read Skinny Bitch last night and have resolved to go back to a modified version of their plan.
3. So, Fruit for breakfast (3 servings at the most, with decaf herbal tea). Vegetables for lunch, with perhaps a small serving of protein or carbs or more fruit (i like my salads with nuts, fruit and croutons). And a reasonable dinner – 3 oz serving of lean protein, more veggies, and some whole-grains.
4. Skinny Bitch would like you to become a vegan, but I’m just not there yet (in part because the faux-meat products are so pricey! maybe when i get a job…) HOWEVER I am officially giving up dairy! It’s high-fat and full of hormones and antibiotics and loaded with calories – in fact breast milk of any kind is intended to cause extreme growth in a short period of time, like growing a 90 lb calf into a 2,000 lb cow in just two years! (i am going to stick with eggs, with a focus on egg whites) I’ve basically given up cheese before because it is so high fat and high calorie, and I don’t like milk nor yogurt that much anyway, so the only hard part will be giving up ice cream and baked goods, which i probably should give up anyway because i tend to overeat these items.
So according to SparkPeople I should be able to get down to 185 lbs by mid-January (that’s only 6 months!)
(it’s funny to think that i’ll be losing weight while my sister-in-law will be gaining weight for the baby! maybe we can trade clothes!)
btw my handle on sparkpeople is barred.owl if anyone out there wants to befriend me or check out my progress (on sparkpeople others can check out what you’ve been eating and so forth)
